Scoutmaster - Bill Getty
Bill Getty was asked in 1986 to take over the troop temporarily, and has "temporarily" led the troop for over 20 years (he says he's still waiting for a "real" Scoutmaster to take over again). An avowed motorcycle enthusiast and desert rat, Bill has a gift for relating to boys and is infectious with his love, enthusiasm and adventurous spirit. He has taught numerous courses in backpacking and survival, and always provides intriguing historical background to the out of the way and hidden places he guides the troop to. Having no children of their own, Bill and his wife Marla led the Cub Scout Pack at Harvest for five years before becoming Scoutmaster, and many a young man can look back fondly at his Boy Scout experience led by Mr. Getty. Visit Mr. Getty's business website, created by Keven Hauser: www.jrceng.com Be sure to see the pictures link; there's a couple wild picture of our scoutmaster!
Troop Committee Chairman - Mike Lewis
Acting as Troop Committee Chairman, Mike has been involved with Scouting for over 25 years.
Chaplain - Alan Smith
Alan provides Bible studies and devotions during meetings, ceremonies and campouts, and also gives guidance to the Chaplain's aid.
Troop Committee Members
The Scoutmaster is not expected to run the troop by himself, as the Troop Committee's job is to see that the Scoutmaster is properly equipped and staffed in order to carry out his mission of a successful scouting program. The following is a description of the Troop Committee members and their function in no particular order.
Advancement and Ceremonies - Marla Getty
Marla works tirelessly alongside her husband Bill in tracking the rank advancement and merit badges of the troop. She keeps the computer records updated and notifies the Scout District Council of all advancements. Quarterly, the troop holds a Court of Honor where the boys receive their awards and new ranks, and Marla oversees these events that need to be coordinated. Marla is also our resident scout policy expert and keeps us within the guidelines of the BSA scouting program.
Treasurer - Dominique Froesch
Dominique is the troop's bean-counter, keeping track of dues payments, individual scout accounts, fund raising proceeds, reimbursement of expenses and managing the troops general account.
Outdoors/Activities - Kevin Hauser
Kevin obtains necessary wilderness and camping permits, along with certificates of insurance to cover any private property we may camp on. Kevin also authored the book Lightweight Backpacking:
The Importance of Good Form.
